Decorative reindeer seized by LAX officials

LOS ANGELES The owner, a passenger from El Salvador, apparently lacked the proper certification to bring them into the U.S. agricultural inspectors also found that the grass and seeds showed possible signs of disease.

"CBP enforces hundreds of laws including all USDA regulations. Our agriculture specialists protect America's agriculture by using their scientific expertise to prevent the introduction of harmful pests and plant diseases," said Carlos Martel of Customs and Border Protection in a statement.

The reindeer will now be destroyed.
