Minnie Driver loves 'Barney's Version' accent

LOS ANGELES "She's got a good heart, she means well and she's treated poorly by him," Driver said. "He's an absolute son of a gun."

And Driver's a pistol, often losing her accent and creating new ones for the roles she plays.

"You've really got to love them to do good accents and I think bad accents will take you out of a film so quickly," she said. "It's the only thing that I'm obsessive about, really."

Whether it's the character she played in 1997's "Good Will Hunting," 2004's "The Phantom of the Opera," or in "Conviction" earlier this year, the common denominator is Driver loves a challenge.

"You want to be pushed and you want to see what you can do," Driver said. "I think that often the conflicted, difficult characters are the most interesting ones. I don't want to be a pretty bottle of milk attached to some dude."

"Barney's Version" is in theatres now.
