Hot flashes may lower risk of breast cancer

LOS ANGELES

Researchers questioned about 1,500 post-menopausal women. They found those with the most severe menopausal symptoms were up to 50 percent less likely to develop breast cancer.

The reason is due to hormones. Women who endure a lot of menopausal symptoms have reduced levels of estrogen and progesterone. That means they may be protected from breast cancer, which can be triggered by those same hormones.
