ABC7's David Ono had the honor of hosting the 17th annual awards.
The honorees included sheriff's deputies, Los Angeles County firefighters and Bellflower residents who made a difference keeping their communities safe.
An appearance was also made by Courage, the German shepherd who was chained to a tree for weeks with no food or water before being rescued.
Courage is now doing well and has been adopted by a loving family.
