Missing UCR student last seen in Newport

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.

Lin's family says it's unlike him to go days without contacting his family. The 22-year-old /*University of California, Riverside*/ student has been missing for nearly a week. Police and his family are asking for the public to help in finding him.

"Friends called. I called friends," said sister Christine Lin. "I posted on his Facebook Saturday asking, 'Where is he? Dad's looking for you. We are all very worried.' Didn't hear anything back."

Lin's sister set up a /*Facebook*/ account with information on her brother. He was last seen leaving Rudy's Pub and Grill in /*Newport Beach*/ around 1 a.m. on Saturday Feb. 5.

His family became concerned when Lin didn't come home, and then didn't show up to work or school.

"Alan is 22 and his birthday is coming up on the 26th," said Christine Lin. "He'll be 23. He is supposed to be graduating this year."

Lin, an engineering major at UC Riverside, was last seen wearing dark jeans, a black shirt and a dark colored blazer. He is 5 foot 9 inches tall, weighs about 160 pounds, and has a small mole on his left cheek.

His family says his sudden disappearance is out of character.

"He would never just miss a class like this or work," said Christine Lin. "He takes his work and school very seriously."

Anyone with information on Lin's whereabouts is urged to call Newport Beach Police at 877-550-NBPD.
