New study: Eat more fiber and live longer

Government researchers have found high fiber diets not only lower the risk of death from /*heart disease*/, but also from pneumonia and the flu.

It found the overall benefit to be strongest for diets high in fiber from grains. The big problem is most Americans are getting about half the fiber they need.

It's recommended men get 38 grams and women 25 grams of fiber every day. Whole grain breads, beans and fruits and vegetables are your best options when looking to boost your fiber.
