Judge fines lawyer over foreclosure advice

VENTURA, Calif.

That's the sentence for Michael T. Pine after he was found in contempt of court by a superior court judge in Ventura County.

The judge did not cite Pine's clients Jim and Danielle Earl. He excused them for relying on the advice of their lawyer.

The judge ordered Pine to pay $2,000 in fines and more than $34,000 dollars in legal fees and costs incurred by the company that purchased the Simi-Valley home after the Earls lost it at auction.
