'Made in America' series begins on ABC News

NEW YORK

Today, more than half of everything Americans buy is made overseas. If every American spent an extra 1 percent on U.S. products, that's 18 cents per day, we could create 200,000 U.S. jobs, according to Moody's Analytics.

All this week, ABC World News is broadcasting their reports "Made in America," looking at how we can bring jobs back to the U.S. We're clearing out one family's home and refurnishing it with only American-made products. Can it be done? What would it look like? And how much would it cost?

In an ABC7/Survey USA poll, 66 percent of L.A. and Southern California residents check products to see if it was made in America. Trouble is, 66 percent also said they'd likely buy foreign-made products when cheaper. Share your idea for boosting purchases of American-made products in the comments section below.

Do you know what U.S. brands are no longer made in America? Take the quiz.
