More than 1,000 nurses walked off the job at Kaiser Permanente's Los Angeles Medical Center on Sunset Boulevard on Wednesday.

They're protesting what they say are unfair labor practices.

The walkout started at 6 a.m. and was slated to last for 24 hours.

Kaiser said the medical center is staying open during the strike and that it is negotiating with the nurses union.
