2 men arrested in Camarillo child robbery

CAMARILLO, Calif.

The 13-year-old was walking in the area of Pickwick Drive and Fulton Street at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 24 when a dark-colored mini-van approached him and stopped. Two male juveniles got out of the van and confronted the victim - all while an adult driver and adult front passenger remained seated in the van.

One of the juvenile suspects threatened the victim with a metal object and took the victim's backpack and cellular phone. The suspect then struck the victim's head with the metal object and the four suspects fled the scene.

The victim sustained a serious but non-life threatening head injury and he was treated at the Pleasant Valley Hospital.

Upon investigation, authorities learned that the incident was gang related.

On March 2 and March 11, police served search warrants at various Camarillo and Oxnard locations. Much evidence was seized and a total of six suspects were arrested in connection with the Feb. 24 robbery as well as other unrelated criminal activity in the area.
