Last year Sunderland, who's from Thousand Oaks, tried to become the youngest person to sail nonstop around the world. She spent four months alone at sea before a rogue wave snapped her mast and she had to be rescued.
Her parents came under scrutiny for allowing their daughter to make the journey at the age of 16.
Sunderland's book, titled "Unsinkable: A Young Woman's Courageous Battle on the High Seas" will be released on Tuesday.
