Cool Kid brings Hands of Change to Fairfax High

LOS ANGELES

"After a few weeks with them, I realized this is really great, and I think people at Fairfax would really appreciate doing the same thing and going to some events, so I just started talking to people," Kevin said.

The club gives to the community in many ways from walkathons to home renovations. Getting people involved has been a difficult task for Kevin, but his persistence has paid off.

He said one week they had between 15 to 20 people attend, then another week, 44 people showed up.

"It was one of those rewarding days," Kevin said.

Helping those in need gives the teen rewards that he says far exceeds any paycheck he sees others earning.

"You might not be going home with that joy, and that joy means a lot to me. It changed my life when I actually started volunteering. It gives you a different take on life," he said.

His work in public service will continue for the very near future. And once again, he will be getting others involved.

"As soon as I'm out of law school, they're all going to get a call, and we're all just going to start campaigning to try to get me to the House of Representatives as soon as possible," Kevin said. "That's the dream."

Our Cool Kid Kevin Sanchez is helping his neighborhood now but with visions of reaching more people in the future.
