The fire was centered at a Mexican restaurant at Balboa Boulevard and San Fernando Mission Road. Firefighters responded to the blaze at around 6 a.m. and knocked down the fire in 13 minutes.
The injured firefighter was battling the blaze from the roof when he hurt his knee. He was transported to an area hospital where he was listed in fair condition.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
