Parishioners celebrate Easter at burned Hacienda Heights church

HACIENDA HEIGHTS, Calif.

Services at St. John Vianney Catholic Church were held in a separate building.

Flames ripped through the church April 16 and investigators ruled it as arson.

Even in the face of such devastation, church leaders say there is a certain bond in the community.

"It's brought people together in ways we've never expected. You know, they're nicer to each other, we noticed, we see people who wouldn't normally hug each other hugging each other, embracing each other," said the Rev. Ricardo Viveros.

Damage to the church was estimated at $9 million.

The search continues for the arsonist.
