Major safety improvements are in the works for one of the most dangerous rail crossings in the Metrolink system.

Metrolink officials say the train crossing at Doran Street in Glendale, just south of the 134 Freeway, is particularly dangerous because there's a propane company nearby.

There's also a heavy flow of tanker trucks and other vehicles across the tracks.

Metrolink is planning $6 million in safety improvements, including better signals and new crossing gates.

It will also enlarge the intersection so vehicles don't line up on the tracks.
