2 arrested in Manhattan Beach jewelry store robbery; 1 suspect at large

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif.

Manhattan Beach Police received a 911 report of a robbery at 23rd Street Jewelers at 1009 Manhattan Ave. at about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Three suspects allegedly entered the store, according to witnesses, and sprayed an employee with pepper-spray. Witnesses said the suspects jumped over the counters, took jewelry and fled to a waiting car.

Manhattan Beach police officers located the suspect vehicle within minutes of the call, a maroon Chevrolet with paper license plates, according to the department. The vehicle was stopped on the 1900 block of Valley Drive near Civic Center Plaza.

Officers arrested the two individuals in the vehicle based on witness descriptions of the suspects and the vehicle.

A third suspect was not located. The outstanding suspect is described as an African-American male possibly dressed all in black.
