Driver flees after crashing car into Van Nuys home

VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES

The fiery crash happened just after 4 a.m. Saturday in the 7800 block of Ranchito Avenue near Woodman Avenue.

The driver of the suspect vehicle swiped a parked BMW on the driveway, and then rammed right into the home. The car and the home then caught fire, torching all of the furniture inside the home's living room.

Firefighters put out the blaze, but the homeowner was left with extensive damage to the home. He said the water damage from the firefight extends not only to the living room but to the dining room and bedrooms as well.

The man who lives in the home was inside at the time of the crash but was not hurt. He did not want to be identified.

The driver of the suspect vehicle fled the scene and it was unknown if he or she was injured.

It was unclear if alcohol played a role in this crash or not. The LAPD was investigating the incident.
