Wild weather floods parts of Southland

VICTORVILLE, Calif.

Several inches of water flooded a Victorville auto shop and its parking lot.

"This happened last year," said a worker at the auto shop. "Actually, we're lucky this year is a little bit less water than last year. We rushed to get electrical stuff off the ground. It just happened out of the blue. It was fine half hour ago and now we have four inches of water inside the shop."

There were similar stories out on the roads with vehicles sloshing through rainwater.

High winds that blew over electric poles left 2,500 customers in Victorville and 1,400 in the Antelope Valley without power.

In Barstow and Highland, spectacular lightning strikes were seen across the sky.
