Armed man holds up US Bank branch in Anaheim

Anaheim police released these surveillance photos in hopes of catching an armed robber who held up a US Bank branch on Monday, October 24, 2011.

Police in Anaheim were searching for an armed robber who held up a US Bank branch on Monday.

The robbery occurred at 4:25 p.m. at a bank located in the 3800 block of East La Palma Avenue, according to the Anaheim Police Department.

The suspect carried a black backpack, showed a handgun and demanded money from employees. He then fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect was described as a white male, about 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 9 inches and 170 pounds, with curly blond hair.

Police released surveillance photos in hopes of catching the suspect. Anyone with information about the robbery or the suspect was asked to contact Anaheim police robbery Detective R. Martins at (714) 765-1966.

It was not known if the suspect is responsible for any other bank robberies.
