Wayward reindeer rescued by Ohio patrolman

NORTON, Ohio

Patrolman Kevin Starling, was the first on the scene outside of Cleveland after callers told 911 dispatchers that a reindeer rolled off the back of a livestock truck.

The animal walked down the middle of lanes on state Route 21 Sunday morning.

Starling was able to grab the reindeer's harness and lead it to safety. He said the reindeer suffered road rash and a broken antler.

According to authorities, the livestock truck was headed to a party when it hit a bump and the doors opened, allowing the reindeer to fall out. Officers found the truck and returned the reindeer to its owner.
