Couple, dogs saved from Huntington Beach house fire

Fire swept through a home in Huntington Beach causing major damage and nearly killing the dogs inside on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012.

Fire swept through a home in Huntington Beach causing major damage and nearly killing the dogs inside.

The blaze broke out at about 6:30 p.m. Friday on the 8700 block of Brookside Drive.

When crews arrived, the garage was on fire, but the flames quickly spread to the attic as well.

A man and his wife managed to escape but were unable to grab their dogs before getting out.

Luckily, firefighters went in for the rescue.

The dogs are OK and no one was seriously hurt.

However, the fire did cause several hundred thousand dollars worth of damage to the home.
