Los Angeles firefighters responded to the call in the 100 block of South Serrano Avenue shortly before 2 a.m.
The fire was in the basement, and it took firefighters about 30 minutes to put it out. They found the woman, who is about 65 years old, on the second floor in full cardiac arrest.
Officials have not yet released the name of the woman.
