Singer Kelly Price cherishes last performance with Houston

February 12, 2012 12:00:00 AM PST
R&B singer Kelly Price said like many other performers, she grew up admiring Whitney Houston.

Price didn't know Houston was going to get on stage with her during a party last Thursday night, but she now sees those few moments as a gift.

The surprise performance of "Yes, Jesus Loves Me," came during a party at Tru Hollywood Nightclub, where Price was celebrating her three Grammy nominations.

Houston had come to support her friend. Price said Houston was happy, dancing and laughing all night.

In photos taken that night, Houston appeared sweaty and disheveled. In an interview, price told ABC News she was angry that Houston's behavior that night has been called erratic.

"When I saw Whitney Thursday night, she was happy, she was celebrating, she looked fine and she didn't look like she had anything else going on," Price said. "She didn't look like she was under the influence of anything. She drank champagne and toasted Kelly Price's three Grammy nominations Thursday night. That's what Whitney Houston did."

Price calls the performance very heartfelt. In her interview, she said Houston gave her a lot of advice about dealing with the music industry. She also talked about how much Houston valued the support of family and friends.

The entire interview was set to air Monday morning on Good Morning America.
