Anaheim police shoot man while investigating suspicious vehicle

ANAHEIM, Calif.

Anaheim police said the shooting occurred at about 8 p.m. after police were investigating reports of a suspicious person and vehicle in the 700 block of West Northgate Lane.

Authorities said the vehicle had been reported stolen out of the Inland Empire and was tied to a shooting earlier in the day.

Police said a man matching the description was seen near the vehicle and ran when investigators attempted to contact the man. Officers chased the man to a church parking lot in the 900 block of North West Street. One officer shot the man, and he was taken into custody.

The man, who authorities have not identified, was taken to a trauma center. His condition is not known.

It wasn't immediately known if a weapon had been found. Authorities have not commented on what sparked the shooting or how many shots were fired. No officers were reported injured.
