The IRS is warning elderly and low-income churchgoers to be careful of scam artists this tax season.

Thieves are specifically targeting low-income and elderly churchgoers to claim fraudulent tax refunds, according to the IRS.

The crooks claim to represent a non-profit tax assistance organization and approach their victims in person or send flyers to churches.

The IRS says they target churches to capitalize on the trust factor.
