Jennifer Hudson leaves court before graphic photos shown during murder trial

CHICAGO

Prosecutors projected dozens of photographs of the bloodied bodies of Hudson's mother and brother. A forensic expert testified that Hudson's mother may have used a broom to fend off her attacker.

A police officer took the stand earlier and talked about finding the body of Hudson's mother, which was sprawled out on the living room floor with a gunshot to her back. He also described finding her brother, who was shot in the head in his bed.

Hudson sat next to her fiancé, hanging her head and shutting her eyes as the officer presented his evidence.

William Balfour is Hudson's former brother-in-law and is estranged from Hudson's sister, Julia. He is believed to have killed Hudson's mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew out of a jealous rage when Hudson's sister began dating another man. He has pleaded not guilty. If convicted, Balfour faces a mandatory life sentence.
