Car plummets off Glendora mountain road; driver critically injured

A man was in critical condition after his car plummeted 300 feet off the side of a mountain road just north of Glendora.

Rescue crews were called out around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. They said the driver may have been racing.

He was thrown nearly 150 feet from his car and had to be hoisted to safety by a helicopter.

The victim was rushed to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center with a head injury and fractures.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
