Vigil held for man shot in Pasadena on Christmas

PASADENA, Calif.

Around 11 a.m. on Christmas, McClinton was in his front yard in the 1900 block of Newport Avenue in Pasadena saying goodbye to friends when he was shot to death. Pasadena police officials say detectives are working tirelessly to find the person or persons responsible for the murder.

Damian Taylor, 24, was also wounded in the shooting. Detectives say given that Taylor is a known gang associate, they believe he could have been the intended target. Detectives say there was no connection between Taylor and McClinton outside of them being in the same general area at the time of the shooting.

McClinton was a youth sports director and coach in the Brotherhood Crusade Youth Sports League. He was also an 18-year employee of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department who worked as a law enforcement technician.

McClinton leaves behind a wife and two boys. Loved ones say they want to continue his legacy by working with the youth.

Detectives need the public's help making an arrest. Anyone with information is urged to call Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
