Lifelong Dodger fan Nick Ybarra meets idol Vin Scully

LOS ANGELES

Nick Ybarra, 28, has always wanted to meet the voice of the Dodgers. On Friday, Nick not only met Vin Scully, he sat in the broadcaster's chair and saw the field from his idol's perspective.

"We're sure happy to have you here," Scully told Nick.

Scully autographed a baseball and even invited Nick to come back, perhaps during the playoffs. The Dodgers helped make Nick's dreams come true after his sister sent in a video documenting his devotion to the Dodgers.

"I got a little choked up in there. For him to actually meet Vinny, who is his daytime partner on the radio, I thought, 'How many people get to meet their favorite person in the world?'" said Nick's mom, Carol Ybarra.

It has only been in the last couple of years that Nick has been able to attend more Dodger games because it was uncomfortable for him to be around such a big crowd. Now he doesn't have that anxiety. Nick told us this was the best day of his life.

The fans cheered as Nick took to the mound and got into wind-up position to throw out the ceremonial first pitch to catcher Tim Federowicz, who followed through with a high five.
