Suspect in 2 Orange County sexual assaults captured

ANAHEIM, Calif.

Raymund Boyken, 18, was arrested after he was found hiding in an apartment he allegedly broke into while fleeing from police.

Boyken allegedly stole a woman's car after sexually assaulting her Friday morning outside a church near La Palma Avenue and Brookhurst Street in Anaheim. An Anaheim police officer spotted the victim's car near Sycamore and Olive streets and tried to pull it over, and a short chase ensued.

Boyken crashed the car and fled on foot, leaving three passengers in the stolen car. The passengers were arrested as the neighborhood was locked down to search for Boyken.

Boyken allegedly knocked out a window screen and hid inside an apartment's locked bathroom. The man and his son who live there left the residence and alerted police who were outside searching the complex. Officers found Boyken inside the apartment and arrested him.

Santa Ana Police confirmed Boyken is the same person wanted for sexually assaulting a woman in a parking structure at the Santa Ana Westfield MainPlace Mall on Wednesday afternoon. Boyken allegedly used a knife in Wednesday's assault.

"Not only did he commit the assault in the parking lot, he actually went back into the mall, where he purchased a phone at the Verizon store," Santa Ana Police Chief Carlos Rojas said about Wednesday's incident.

Anyone with information related to the cases is urged to call Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) TIP-OCCS.
