The calf named "Hero" had been rejected by his mother and sold to someone who didn't feed him properly. He ended up losing his hind legs to frostbite.
Hero was brought to Selah Ranch All Animal Rescue in Virginia.
The owners of the animal rescue then took Hero to Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine, where veterinarians decided the rare surgery could be done.
