4-year-old ejected from car in 5 Freeway crash

ANAHEIM, Calif.

The driver swerved in an attempt to avoid a tire tread, lost control of his 2002 Lincoln Navigator and crashed into a retaining wall near Magnolia Avenue around 8:15 p.m.

The force of the crash sent his 4-year-old out of the car, despite being strapped into a car safety seat.

The youngster landed on a soft bed of ice plants planted along the freeway about 20 feet away. He was transported as a precaution to UC Irvine Medical Center with minor injuries.

No further information regarding the incident was released.
