Sinkhole causes traffic trouble in Oxnard

OXNARD, Calif.

The 10-foot-deep hole opened at the intersection of Ventura Road and Hemlock Street around 5:45 a.m. City officials said the hole was filled with water.

No damage or injuries were reported. The cause of the sinkhole has not been determined.

Southbound traffic on Ventura Road was being diverted at Wooley Road as repairs were made. Northbound traffic on Ventura Road was being diverted at Channel Island Boulevard. Motorists were encouraged to use Victoria Avenue or Saviers Road to reach their destinations.

Eastbound and westbound traffic on Hemlock Street at Ventura Road was also closed. Motorists were encouraged to use Channel Island Boulevard or Wooley Road to reach their destinations. Crews were expected to reopen the intersection on Monday afternoon.
