A man wanted for assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats was found five hours after he escaped from the Fontana police station Monday afternoon.

Investigators say 39-year-old Ramon Torres managed to walk out of the interview room while he was being questioned.

He was found in a motel room on the 16500 block of Foothill Boulevard Monday evening.

Officers recovered his weapon, but still considered him armed and dangerous.

Ramirez was taken into custody on the 16100 block of Merrill Avenue Monday morning in connection to a verbal altercation.

Police say the suspect allegedly pulled out a gun on his tenants Sunday and threatened to kill the people inside the house for not paying the rent.

He was brought into the station for further investigation Monday morning, but escaped.
