Southbound 101 Freeway reopened after trash fire

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The southbound 101 Freeway was briefly shut down at Mission Road in Los Angeles due to a trash fire Friday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, there was a small trash fire underneath the freeway at 700 East Aliso Street at around 1 p.m.

The fire was swiftly knocked down, but not before blowing dark plumes of smoke into traffic.

CHP reopened all lanes around 1:45 p.m. No injuries were reported.
