OXNARD, Calif. (KABC) -- A tornado tore the roofs off several structures Thursday afternoon at a mobile home park in Oxnard, the National Weather Service confirmed.
The damage occurred at the Ocean-Aire Mobile Home Estates near the intersection of Oxnard Boulevard and Pleasant Valley Road.
No injuries were reported in what the weather service initially described as an "extreme wind event."
At least a dozen structures were damaged, including awnings and carports. No residents were displaced, a spokesperson for the city of Oxnard said.
Power was temporarily knocked out at the mobile home park before being restored.
On Friday, Ariel Cohen, a spokesperson for the weather service, said the agency officially determined that a tornado had occurred.
The damage was "consistent with a tornado having wind speeds somewhere between 75 and 90 miles per hour," Cohen told ABC7 in an interview at the scene.
