WESTCHESTER, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An investigation was underway after a deadly crash following a police chase in the Westchester area Friday morning.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were in pursuit of a possible DUI driver around 1:30 a.m. Authorities said they stopped chasing near Century Boulevard and Concourse Way due to how fast that suspect was going.
The driver continued and crashed into another car about a mile down the road at Sepulveda and Century boulevards near LAX.
Two suspects ran from the crash site and were eventually detained. A passenger in the suspect's vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officer Charles Miller described that individual as a possible juvenile boy.
A person in the car that was hit was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The suspect was taken into custody. Additional details about what led up to the chase were not available.
Meanwhile, the crash wreckage shut down streets in the area for hours, which created problems for people, including pilots, who were trying to get to the airport. It doesn't appear any flights were affected.
