Person struck, killed on 405 Freeway in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- A person was struck and killed on the southbound 405 Freeway in Long Beach at the 710 interchange.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred shortly after 5:30 a.m.

The transition road to the northbound 710 Freeway was shut down. CHP officers were diverting commuters off the freeway near Wilmington Avenue. All roads have since reopened.

It was not immediately clear if the fatally injured person was a pedestrian or a person in a vehicle, the CHP reported.

The incident is under investigation.
