CORONA, Calif. (KABC) -- A stretch of State Route 91 in Corona between the 71 and 15 freeways was shut down Friday night and will reopen around 4 a.m. Monday.
The closure, which was done as part of an expansion project, has been dubbed "Coronageddon." It was shut down around 9 p.m. Friday.
The $1.4 billion project is expected to reduce traffic commutes by 90 minutes annually, according to the 91 Project website. To learn more go to www.sr91project.info.
Many people said they heard about the closure and avoided the freeway ahead of time.
