Ladera Heights ATM robbery turns deadly

LADERA HEIGHTS The attempted robbery happened Sunday at 11:30 p.m. at a Bank of America in Ladera Heights.

Mylus Mondy, 47, went to the bank Sunday night. The suspect was in the process of robbing someone else at the time when Mondy showed up. At one point the suspect pointed his gun at Mondi's head.

"He then turned his attention to our victim. He walked over to him with a gun in his hand. The victim looked down at the gun, which you can see in the video tape, and was hit in the head with that weapon by the suspect. He then pointed the weapon at the victim's head. The victim ran and the suspect chased him the victim. While he was doing that he began firing at him. The victim was shot and died," said Sgt. Lee Sands, LAPD.

Bank of America is now offering a $20,000 reward for information in the arrest and conviction of the suspect.

"The video itself is crystal clear. We are hoping that someone may have seen this person hanging out prior to the robberies at the ATM machine. There was a vehicle that he might of gotten into. There may be additional suspects, but at this time we do not know that for sure. We are hoping that this video might stir someone's memory and they can give us a call," said Sgt. Sands.

Anyone with information is urged to call the LAPD at 877-LAW-FULL or 877-529-3855.
