Stress during pregnancy may cause asthma

Women who are stressed during their pregnancies may end up giving birth to babies who are predisposed to having allergies and asthma, according to a new Harvard University study released Sunday.The findings link maternal stress to changes in children's developing immune systems.

Researchers say babies born to mothers experiencing high levels of stress had higher levels of an immune system compound in their blood at birth, linked to allergic and asthmatic reactions.
