Cucamonga cops seek sex predator suspect

June 27, 2008 12:00:00 AM PDT
Sheriff's investigators in San Bernardino County need your help. They're trying to track down a man who's allegedly been trying to lure teenage girls into his vehicle. And he's been trying for several weeks. This is a composite drawing of the white male in his 40s or 50s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, with thin graying hair, wearing sunglasses.

"Investigators aren't sure if his intent is to assault the victim or possibly get her into the vehicle with him, but at this time, it's been strictly verbal contact between the suspect and the victims," said Cindy Beavers, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Dept.

The incidents all occurred near Carnelian St. and Base Line Rd., a very busy area, in the early morning and late afternoon. Alta Loma High School is in the area.

This warning by authorities is very unusual.

"It's quite possible that the suspect could change his methods and his behavior. He might get disappointed that nobody comes over to the vehicle to get closer to him, and he may become physical with them at some point," said Beavers.

A partial California license plate reading "4SJ," followed by four unknown characters, is attached to the man's 1990s-model four-door beige or gold compact car.
