The State Senate shot down a plan to put up dozens of electronic billboards along freeways at various sites around Southern California with a vote Tuesday night.The bill would have allowed a company to erect the new billboards at the 10 and 110 Freeway interchange, near the Staples Center, L.A. Convention Center, and the Nokia Theater. Supporters of the bill said the digital billboards would bring in millions of dollars for the city, but the State Senate said they are distracting to drivers.
There is already a state ban on new freeway billboards in the area.
