Blood protein tied to Alzheimer's

Low levels of a blood protein may up the risk of Alzheimer's disease in older men.Swedish researchers studied men over the age of 70.

The study finds that the blood protein cystatin-C inhibits another protein in the brain that's linked to the disease.

Without enough cystatin-C, the other protein can form plaques in the brain, a key feature in Alzheimer's.
