Crews repair broken water main in L.A.

LOS ANGELES The broken pipe flooded San Pedro Street between 5th and 6th streets at about 12:30 a.m.

Firefighters had the water shut off less than an hour later.

The street looked like two rushing rivers, forcing authorities to evacuate five homeless people who were living on the sidewalk.

San Pedro will remain closed indefinitely while workers try and fix the problem.

The Union Rescue Mission was still operating without water service on Friday afternoon. The DWP brought in port-a-potties and bottled water for the mission to use.
