No new school textbooks in CA until 2016

SACRAMENTO, Calif. That's because the new state budget deal has reduced money for those books and gives schools the option to spend book money on other expenses.

The State Board of Education has said it won't approve new books for kindergarten through eighth grade until at least January of 2016.

Many districts have also postponed buying high school textbooks.
