Thrifty solutions for holiday gift wrapping

LOS ANGELES At the Westfield Topanga Shopping Center in Canoga Park, the magazine, "Real Simple," offers some money saving tips for wowing your friends and family with beautifully wrapped gifts this holiday season.

The display also gives helpful hints on last-minute gift ideas.

"'Real Simple' has come up with some amazing solutions to your holiday gift-wrapping woes," said Julee Wilson, an associate editor for the magazine.

Wilson suggested that if you have a gift but no wrapping paper, you can pull off a page of your desk calendar and circle the date of the party with a marker and use it wrap your gift. Or, you can tear out a page from a magazine to use as gift wrap as well.

If you find yourself in a dilemma where you don't have a gift to bring to a party, Wilson suggests bringing a bottle of wine.

"Never underestimate the power of a bottle of wine. It's a great hostess gift. Grab a bottle of wine that you have around, put it in a plastic bag, and you can even cut up some confetti from home and put it in the bottom of the bag, tie it with a ribbon and you're done," advised Wilson.
