More than 800 without power in SoCal

February 7, 2010 12:00:00 AM PST
Of the nearly 9,000 Department of Water and Power customers who lost their electricity as a result of storm-related outages, 800 in the West Los Angeles area were still without power Sunday, a DWP spokesperson said. That was about 800 less than Saturday, when about 1,600 customers were without electricity.

No widespread area was affected, and the outages were widely scattered.

As of 7:30 p.m., crews were still working to repair an underground cable issue, which sometimes takes longer.

All of the power outages were weather-related, utility officials said earlier.

There is no estimate of when power will be restored in those areas, but crews in the field are working around the clock to get it back on.
