Driver rescued from overturned truck

A driver was rescued Wednesday morning after his pickup truck flipped over and landed upside down in the Toys-R-Us parking lot at the intersection of Johnson Drive and North Bank Drive.The Ventura City Fire Department reports the driver was traveling southbound on Johnson Drive when his vehicle left the road and flipped over, hitting a parked car and landing on its roof.

The 34-year-old driver was trapped upside down in the crushed cab of the pickup, suspended by his seat belt. Firefighters used heavy rescue and hydraulic tools, including the Jaws of Life to cut away the vehicle and rescue him.

The unidentified driver was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

The Ventura Police Department is investigating the accident.
