Woman allegedly witnesses kidnapping in O.C.

SANTA ANA, Calif. A frantic resident flagged down a police officer just before 8 p.m., saying she had witnessed the kidnapping of a teenage girl.

The witness told police the victim was walking on the sidewalk near the Northgate Market on Main Street in Santa Ana when a white Malibu or Impala cut in front of her and stopped. She said the driver then exited the vehicle, grabbed the girl around the waist and mouth, and attempted to drag her into his car, according to Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.

Police said the witness saw the teenager fight back, then a male passenger jumped out and helped get the girl in the car.

"As they drove off the young female was screaming and kicking and trying to get out of the vehicle," said Bertagna.

The witnessed described the girl as about 17 years old, 5 feet tall, with blond hair. She was wearing a white tank top and skinny jeans. Police said so far there are no missing person reports filed matching the description of the girl.

"We don't know if this is an actual kidnapping or a domestic thing," said Bertagna.

The suspect who was driving the vehicle was described as a white male, about 25 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a thin build and short blond buzzed hair. The passenger was described as a black male, 30-40 years old, 6 feet tall, with a medium build. He was bald.

"It's an extremely high traffic area with lots of vehicles, lots of people walking around in the market and we're hoping someone else saw may have seen this same incident," said Bertagna.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Santa Ana Police Department at (714) 245-8400.
